What Are Dentures Made Of?

What is a full or partial denture?
A denture is a removable mouth piece designed to replace missing teeth in a patient's mouth. They can be either a 'full denture' or 'partial denture' depending on your requirements. A 'partial denture' normally has some retentive components like metal clasps to hold the denture in place in your mouth. The element which holds all the components together is referred to as the major connector.

What is a metal partial denture?
This is when the major connector of the partial denture is made of metal.
What are the advantages of metal partial dentures?
Compared with acrylic dentures, metal partial dentures are:
--less bulky,
--more stable,
--more comfortable,
--less likely to brake,
--more hygienic and easier to clean,
--less likely to impair speech as it is occupies less space in the mouth.

What is the metal alloy used in partial dentures and can they become rusty?
It is made mainly of a cobalt and chrome alloy specifically designed not to rust or change in the mouth environment. If rare cases where the patient is allergic to cobalt or chrome, titanium alloys can be used.

Is it possible to add a tooth to a metal denture in the future?
In most cases, an addition can be made to metal partials however pre-consideration in your original denture design is highly recommended.

How frequently should a denture be replaced?
We recommend replacing dentures every 5 to 10 years based on your denture materials and care.  to replace a denture generally between 5 to 10 years but it could different in every case, based on person's dietary and the speed of shrinkage of the jaw bones and most importantly the wear strength of the artificial teeth, used to make the denture.
